WHAT IS STARTUP CHALLENGE ?
Think you have the next big idea and need a little help getting started?
How To Web wants to challenge all the web-changing startups in the world to a Startup Challenge for East European fame. Any startup from anywhere in the world can enter the competition and prove to us that their idea is the one that will rock the web in 2011.
ENTRY CRITERIA
The startups which wish to take part in the competition have to comply to a few rules:
- anyone from anywhere in the world can enter the competition
- they need to have less than 2 years of activity
- they can come from any part of the world but their startups need to target a global or international market
- they haven’t raised any VC funding until the present moment

A professional jury will help us select the 6 finalists of the Startup Challenge and the winners of the final competition:

Startup Challenge Workshop
If you are still looking for an extra excellent reason to register at Startup Challenge, at How to Web 2010, here’s one of the best: a very special private workshop offered by our partners UKTI / Global Entrepreneur Program!
How to Web will conduct a half-day session (10:00 to 14:00) where you get to present your start up to Jon Bradford (Founder of the Difference Engine) and Stewart Townsend aka “The man in the shirt” (Former Manager of Sun Startups Essentials) who will supply the tough love and tell it like it is.
Each team registered in Startup Challenge competition will have the opportunity to present it’s business and get direct feedback and advice from Jon and Stewart regarding their product, market and overall strategy.
The workshop will take place at Bucharest Hubb, 21 Stelea Spatarul, Bucharest.
HOW TO ENTER STARTUP CHALLENGE
In order to enter Startup Challenge you need to:
- complete our entry form until 10 October
- send us a video elevator pitch (not longer then 5 minutes) for your startup
- focus on the judging criterias presented bellow

- Market characteristics / size and customer needs targeted
- Solution and technology
- Competitive strategies
- Team
- Business model
- Overall feasibility and impact
THE STARTUP CHALLENGE FINAL
Only 6 of the subscribed startups will be chosen for the Startup Challenge Final. All finalists will receive:
- one free conference ticket, 50% discount for the second ticket (125 EUR, including VAT)
- 5 minutes presentation of their new product or service for free to the 500 Internet professionals who are attending the How To Web 2010 conference on the main stage
- a dedicated space, situated in the Startup Challenge Area, where he can present his product or service to all attendees
- individual discussions with all the members of the jury, for getting feedback and improving their product or service
THE STARTUP CHALLENGE WINNERS
At the end of the two conference days, three of the six Startup Challenge finalists will be awarded based on the jury’s and attendees’ evaluation. The winners will be promoted via How to Web’s official social media channels and get a great pack of rewards.
1st prize: One license for CREATIVE SUITE 5 MASTER COLLECTION (offered by Adobe)
Two LeWeb tickets (offered by Loic le Meur, organiser of LeWeb Conference)
Two plane tickets, destination Paris (offered by Alexandre Almajean, President of the Gentica Foundation)
2nd prize: One license for CREATIVE SUITE 5 WEB PREMIUM (offered by Adobe)
3rd prize: One license CREATIVE SUITE 5 DESIGN PREMIUM
