First How To Web Party – 3rd of November

Since we know not only How to Web but also How to Party, we planned 2 days of awesome parties for our guests and attendees!

The first day of the event will be continued with the Adobe Chill Out and Party which is organized with the support of our partner – Adobe.

Victor Kapra is one of the most important bloggers in Romania, specialising in new technologies and web ever since 2006. Doug Richard is a successful entrepreneur with 20 years’ experience in the development and leadership of technology and software ventures. Doug featured in the first two UK TV series of BBC2’s Dragon’s Den. He is the founder of School for Startups the leading enterprise educator in the UK and an active angel investor. He co-founded the Cambridge Angels and was Chairman of the Conservative Party Small Business Task Force.

Between 1996 and 2000 Doug was President and CEO of Micrografx, a US publicly quoted software company. Prior to that he also founded and subsequently sold two other companies: Visual Software and ITAL Computers. Doug holds a BA in Psychology from University of California at Berkeley and a Juris Doctor at the school of Law, University of California at Los Angeles. In 2006 Doug became the first American to receive The Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion. In 2007, Doug became a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts. In 2009 Doug received an honorary doctorate from the University of Essex for his contribution to the teaching of Entrepreneurship. In 2009, he was the Guest Lecturer on Entrepreneurship at Cambridge University for the Nanotech Masters and PHD programmes.

Luka Abrus

Luka Abrus is a Member of the Board for ShoutEm UK Ltd and the CEO of Five Minutes Ltd, a Croatian based company with 30 employees specialized in developing applications for all mobile platforms and solutions based on social networks. ShoutEm was one of the startups winning Seedcamp Week in 2009. It is a startup that lets you customize a secure microblogging network where you can share photos, files, links and locations with only the people you want—great for businesses looking for a secure alternative to Twitter. Or, if you prefer, you can synch your account with Twitter and Facebook. ShoutEm has also rolled out a mobile client for BlackBerry and iPhone users.

Luka has previously worked for Microsoft Croatia. Luka has graduated Computing Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, part of the University of Zagreb in Croatia and wrote his graduating thesis around the subject of securing web-applications and databases.

Luka will be with us at How To Web 2010 and will speak to the audience about “Building a successful local mobile app”.

Yves Tyrode

Yves Tyrode is the executive Vice President, Head of Technocentre for Orange, within the Strategic Marketing group. He is in charge of developing innovative products and services for the group, and deploying them locally as much in the public sphere, as in the enterprise. Before taking charge of Technocare, Yves also played a number of key roles within the group.

Yves Tyrode is a graduate of the National School of Telecoms in France. In February 2000, he founded and drove MIB (Mobile Internet for Business), a joint venture between Equant and OrangeFrance for the development and commercialisation of mobile multi-access enterprise gateways on multiple terminals such as PDA, PC & Mobile. Afterwards, he joined OrangeFrance where he was responsible for the mobile enterprise product line, and then went onto the role of Marketing Director, Enterprise, where he launched Wifi to the French & European enterprise market in 2003.

Between 2003 and 2005, he took charge of the Data affairs committee within the enterprise division of France Telecom. On that occasion, he created the “Office +” project and launched “Business Everywhere”; the first convergent product offering for the enterprise market, followed by “Business spirit”, the European program extended across the world. In early 2006 and as Director of Technocentre for Enterprise, he played an active part in creating the Technocentre and in 2007, directed the development of the public and enterprise line of products.

Laurent Féral-Pierssens is the founder of Silentale, a Paris-based startup which stores all your digital conversations in the Cloud. Laurent is a seasoned entrepreneur and Computer Science and Mathematics graduate from McGill University with a significant amount of experience in information management and archival in the communication, healthcare and financial industries. Laurent previously founded three Canadian startups in Biotech Information Systems, Email Marketing SaaS, and Healthcare and Financial Information Systems.

Cristina Alexandru

Cristina Alexandru is the co-founder and Project manager of startups.ro, one of the top entrepreneurship websites in Romania. She is a business journalist with ten years of experience in writing about entrepreneurship, management and investments in Romania. Prior to launching startups.ro, she was a senior journalist for Business Week Romania.

Cristina graduated form the School of Journalism (Media Pro University) in 2003 and started business writing in her first year as a student. At the age of 21, in 2002, she became one of the youngest romanian media editors, as member of the founding team and editor for a weekly publishing project dedicated to careers and management, launched by Evenimentul Zilei. She was also a senior journalist for Biz magazine and wrote for Ziarul Financiar and Mediafax.

Two years ago she decided to do more for entrepreneurs than write articles. So she quit her job and stared her own publishing project, startups.ro, ment to give relevant information and resources to those who want to start and grow their own business.

Cristina will be moderating the “Financing your company” panel at How To Web 2010 and will discuss with Ondrej Bartos (Credo Ventures), Katy Turner (Eden Ventures), Marius Ghenea and Alexandre Almajeanu about their priorities as venture capital investors and business angels when putting their money on the table and the way they evaluate the people, the vision and the business.
